Scelukukhanya Home Based Care

SHBC was founded in 2007 by unemployed women of Limehill concerned about the HIV/AIDS pandemic, stigma and discrimination and general gross violation of human rights which were perpetuating a vicious cycle of poverty.

SHBC shall strives to build a healthy community free from AIDS related deaths, teenage pregnancy, rights violation and poverty within the context of a just society based on democratic values, social justice and fundamental human rights.

SHBC is working within the Limehill area with a population of approximately 5200. The organisation conducts household profiling with the intention to educate, mobilise and encourage involved the community members to take part in its social programmes. SHBC aims to train 30 community care workers on holistic approach in addressing social ills in our target community by 2017. Community members will be engaged at round table social dialogues to identify social ills and to develop a plan to address these and to improve SASSA service delivery in Limehill.
